G2 has been eliminated from DreamHack Masters Malmö after a humbling 2-0 defeat to fnatic (16-4 Inferno, 16-5 Train), while NiP grabbed a spot in the playoffs over Grayhound (16-14 Mirage, 16-8 Overpass).
Jesper "JW" Wecksell triple in the pistol started fnatic on the right foot of Inferno, with the early lead allowing him the AWP with which he secured a double in the firs buy, paving the way for his team on the Terrorist side. The Swedish side ran up a 7-0 lead after Robin "flusha" Rönnquist clutched out a 1v1 against Kenny "kennyS" Schrub, after which G2 finally got on the board with Nemanja "huNter-" Kovač's triple on B.
G2 weren't able to build on that, however, as they only managed sporadic rounds and trailed 12-3 going onto the offensive side. Winning the T pistol gave the French-Serbian squad some hope, but fnatic replied with a force buy to end the map quickly, 16-4.
On Train, G2 won the pistol round by swarming the B bombsite, but just like on Inferno, ended up dropping the following one to a force buy as Maikil "Golden" Selim and Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin combined for all five kills. That set up fnatic for a strong CT side, with Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson leading the charge with an inspired performance. The 25-year-old picked up multikills round after round and closed out the 11-4 half with 26-7 K-D.
fnatic grabbed the second pistol of the map to extend their lead, with KRIMZ cleaning up the anti-eco with a MAC-10 ace to add even more frags to his tally. G2 grabbed one rifle round, but the Swedish side replied with the next and swiftly tied up the map, 16-5.

In the second series, back-and-forth force buy wins were traded early on Mirage, but Grayhound was the team to win the battle and take a 5-2 lead as Terrorists on their map pick. Christopher "dexter" Nong and co. extended that to 7-2 before Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg got activated and inspired Ninjas in Pyjamas to bring the score back, concluding the half with his team trailing just one round.
The Swedes took the lead with the second-half pistol win, but Grayhound started to establish themselves in the gun rounds until f0rest and Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson won a 2v4 on the B bombsite to turn the tides of the game. Ninjas in Pyjamas reached a 14-11 lead by focusing on the B bombsite, when Liam "malta" Schembri finally stopped them with a quad kill. The score was shortly equalized at 14-14, but Ninjas in Pyjamas edged out the final rounds to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Grayhound had a troubling start to their map pick, Overpass, as Ninjas in Pyjamas bagged six of the first seven on the offense. The Australians then tied two together, the latter due to Simon "Sico" Williams picking off the planter and denying the plant, but Ninjas in Pyjamas still got up to 8-3. Clutches from Joshua "INS" Potter and malta came in late in the half, allowing Grayhound to salvage the scoreline, 9-6.
A tight pistol round was turned the way of Ninjas in Pyjamas by Fredrik "REZ" Sterner, who picked up three headshots to get the Swedes back on track. They then managed retakes in the following two rounds as well, eventually going on a six-round streak to make it 15-6. Grayhound stayed a live for a couple of rounds, but eventually, had to succumb to Ninjas in Pyjamas 16-8.
